THE A TEAM BLOG

Recent news about title, escrow, mortgage and related industries for A Team Staffing clients, candidates and employees.

One size does not fit all!

In today’s real estate market, hiring the right talent is increasingly difficult—especially during periods of low unemployment. While many candidates bring years of experience on their resume, experience on a resume alone does not always equate to a qualified hire.  On the flipside, when volume is slow, there is a perception of a wealth of available help…this is actually when recruiting is the most challenging.   Often times, low performers are the first ones to be let go. How do you determine who is a contender versus a pretender?

Hiring managers and decision makers already know that their next hire requires more than “years served” in the industry.  They demand accuracy, sound judgment, accountability/reliability, and the ability to perform under pressure. These qualities don’t always appear on a resume and are often only revealed through deeper vetting.

Simply put,  having the same job title does not equal the same job! There is a vast difference in skill sets of a commercial officers vs. a refi officer or somebody that services a national refi desk vs. a small DRE broker owned escrow company.

Equally important is working with a recruiter who is deeply connected to the real estate industry.  Thorough reference checks are more important than ever, yet frequently rushed. Speaking directly with industry peers and past leaders provides critical insight into how a candidate performs when volume is high and expectation is demanding.

Hiring the best people protects your business, your reputation, and your clients. It requires more than reviewing resumes—it requires industry knowledge, trusted references, and a disciplined approach to talent. This takes time that you probably don’t have.  You have options to hire a professional to do the legwork for you.
