Ways To Stay Positive While In Quarantine

A sign saying, "Good vibes Only".It can be pretty difficult staying positive and keeping your head above water as you’re trying your best to stay afloat in the current settings we have. It’s been a learning curve for all of us; trying to juggle work life and home life and feeling like they just run together while in quarantine. Just remember, you’re not alone. Here are a few helpful tips to staying positive and productive while being at home.

Step Outside

This may sound like a no brainer, but you would be surprised how many people don’t actually go outside during the day. Take a stroll outside even if it is just for 10 minutes or just sit outside and take in the fresh air and sun. It will recharge your body.

Video Chat with Friends or Family

It is important to stay in contact with your friends and family during this time. Be creative, try setting up a virtual happy hour with your friends or even a game night. Even though they may be far away, you can still feel like they are right next to you.

Maintain a Sleep Schedule

Without heading into work everyday you might feel like it is a mini break where you can stay up all night and sleep all day, but maintaining a proper sleep schedule is important for your body so it can feel recharged.

Write Notes or Letters to Friends and Family

Sometimes it’s fun to receive a little snail mail from loved ones. Get the kids involved and have some fun by creating your own greeting cards. A little arts and crafts project will surely occupy some time during the day and bring you and your family closer together. You may even inspire the receiver of your card to start making their own.

Limit the News/ Social Media Intake

News watching can be informative but also can be taxing on your emotions, likewise with social media. Don’t spend all day looking at it. Set up a time limit on how much news to watch and how long you spend looking at your social media throughout the day so you can continue staying positive.

Don’t Pressure Yourself to Stay Positive

Whatever you do, don’t force yourself to be positive. Demanding yourself to stay positive will put a strain on your body. Take it day by day. Instead of thinking about things you do not have control over, try thinking about what you do have control over.

Work Out

Keep those endorphins up. Physical activity is important to maintain during quarantine because it can increase your energy levels, make you feel happy, and even improve your sleep quality!

Maintain a Routine

Periodically, it’s acceptable to do nothing but binge watch TV shows and movies or get lost playing the newest video game, but try to set a routine to ensure you keep yourself active and moving. Take everything we have discussed above and put it all together to create a great routine.
